Guilty. Hilary Duff seen here at the Los Premios MTV Latin America 2007 appears generous with her smiles as she poses for the cameras. But don’t be fooled. This primadiva is CHEAP!
According to a waitress who recently waited on her,

“I waited on her back when she was dating Joel Madden. Joel is a regular at my restaurant and is so cool. All Hillary ordered was a drink and she insisted she wasn’t anorexic. She was totally rude throughout the night and was way high maintenance. She picked up the bill and only left 10%.”

Julia Roberts

John Says:
Julia Roberts noshed at an upscale Venice eatery over the weekend. The server, whose name and employer will remain anonymous, said, “Julia showed up and had lunch with two industry types. When she finished, she picked up the bill and added 100% gratuity.” We know many of our readers are in the service industry so the Derobers have started Celebrity Gratuity. If you have any stories about celebs in your restaurant, good or bad, we want to hear about it. If a rich celeb runs you silly and doesn’t pony up, you now have a chance to get back at them Derober-style!

Charlie Sheen

With Charlie Sheen, you never know. I imagine he’s been tipping the hookers for years. It’s made him quite the gentleman tipper. Here is what one event hostess had to say:

“I worked Charlie’s daughter’s birthday party. He was totally cool and tipped me and the other girl $200 each.”

I wanted to put the public straight about a pseudo celebrity that I waited/bartended on once.
Scottie ‘no tippin’ Pippen. This guy has the worst reputation out of Chicago as stiffing his waiters. Once he was traded to Portland, where I lived at the time, I dreaded his coming in (it was a very popular night club for the hoopsters and entourages). Well, he sat at my bar with his agent and had a few cosmos. He said he would like to own a club like that one, some day. At the end of the night he asked for the tab. I told him that I got them a round. He then paid the tab. I waited for them to leave before looking at the insult. Wow. $70 tab. $80 tip. $150 total. I talked to him a bit (I was a little busy), but I was quite surprised.
Nice guy and totally misleading nickname.
